Vibration Training

Vibration training is a unique training device based on mechanical vibrations. The idea of vibration training originated in Russia where scientists looked at ways of helping older people stay in shape, regain strength and in particular help prevent osteoporosis. It was then developed further in the Russian space programme and successfully used to improve bone density and reinforce the muscles of the astronauts. As a result the Russian astronauts were able to set a record of 420 days in space. The American astronauts training on conventional fitness equipment were forced to give up after 120 days due to bone and muscle failure.

In just 10 minutes you can get the benefit of 1 hour’s intensive power training and will achieve a result that is 20-30% better. For those short of time it is obviously of great benefit. When using it, 100% of the muscle fibres are activated, while blood flow and hormone release is significantly higher than in conventional training.
Vibration training can be used for a wide range of health reasons, such as spine and posture/gait problems. Due to the increased blood supply to the area it is particularly beneficial in the rehabilitation of injuries and we are already getting good results for those using it who have knee injuries.

It is also beneficial for ME, MS and those with fibromyalgia. Due to the increased release of the “happiness” hormone – the body coach is also of great help when treating depression, or for those with burn out.
Weight, inch and cellulite reduction are also guaranteed if it is used regularly.

Narl 517

The Narl 517 is a revolutionary technique which combines the safe application of ultrasound to the body which releases noradrelanine ( i.e. NorAdrenalineReLease i.e. NARL). The result of this is to heat up and break down the subcutaneous fat cells. The liquidized fat is then discharged through the blood system and out of the body, providing exercise takes place within 70 minutes of starting the treatment. The radio waves also help tighten the skin by stimulating fibroblasts to produce more collagen.
To get best results you need a minimum of 12 x 10 minutes sessions (so it’s very quick).

The best results have taken place when combined with vibration training, as up to 9.2cm loss around the stomach has been achieved, with an average of 4.6 cm lost.

We are all aware that the safest and best way to lose weight and tone up is to eat sensibly and exercise and we are not in favour of any gimmicks, however the NARL relies on you exercising as well.

Soundwave Therapy

We have installed the latest revolutionary physioacoustic massage chair. Soundwave therapy focuses on the musculo-skeletal system, releasing stress and tension through deep body massage. It also works to lower high blood pressure and reduce both anxiety and pain whilst boosting the immune system. High sound energy has been used in medical science for several decades e.g ultrasound, but the use of low sound frequencies has only been recently recognised in western medical science.

Patients feel the treatment as a sympathetic resonance within muscles and other tissues. This has the effect of releasing stress and tension through deep body massage. This can be experienced with music through headphones and/or with a NLP programme to aid the relaxation experience.

Major applications of the Physioacoustic method

  • hospitals and clinics, including Hedley Court the main centre for rehabilitation of the forces after injury (a 2nd chair has just been installed here)
  • sports medicine- it is used by some top football clubs to aid performance and prevent, or treat injuries, the rate of injuries has been reduced in these clubs
  • general rehabilitation and for disabled and invalids
  • psychotherapy and psychiatric treatment
  • rehabilitation of drug and alcohol abuse
  • pain management.
  • stress control

This is an FDA and BSI medically approved piece of equipment for a wide range of medical conditions. The following medical claims are allowed:

  • improve blood circulation
  • reduce pain
  • relax muscless

Back revolution

The back revolution is a flexed inversion unit designed to decompress and elongate the spine, this helps relieve pain by releasing pressure on the discs and nerve roots.

Rolfing

Rolfing is a form deep-tissue bodywork and movement education which aims to balance and integrate the body from the inside out, leading to improved posture, ease of movement and reduction in pain. Using hands-on techniques, the soft tissues of the body (the muscle and fascia) are slowly worked to affect a release of tension and lengthening. This treatment works over a series of sessions to ensure that the major segments of the body, from the head to the feet, are freed and integrated with one another to ensure a more effective posture. With the whole body support of good posture, the changes are set to be much longer lasting than conventional 'fix-it' treatments.

Rolfing can be helpful as a supplement to other practices such as Yoga, Pilates and other forms of exercise. By bringing movement awareness into the body, increasing range of movement and releasing areas of tension, movement becomes easier and more effective leading to a happier practice.

Sam has been working with the human body since 2004 when he qualified as a sports and body massage therapist. In 2005 he trained in Thai massage in Thailand, and in 2007 qualified as a Rolfer at the European Rolf Institute. He is currently also training in Somatic Movement.

Sports Massage Therapy

Sports Massage is a form of deep remedial massage which is used as way of helping people to remain fit, healthy and mobile for longer.  The main benefits are:

  • injury prevention
  • improved flexibility
  • postural improvement
  • improved circulation
  • relaxation
  • improved well-being
  • improved speed of recovery following injury

Although a full-body massage is available, sports massage tends to be tailored to the needs of the client and will concentrate on specific areas of injury or tension.  It is also extremely beneficial for people with non-sports related conditions and injuries.  Deep remedial massage, neuromuscular technique, soft tissue release and muscle energy technique are all part of a sports massage.
